Hope as it gets nearer we get a few whopping donations from wealthy individuals.
Don't forget there will be direct donations to LOFT and PayPal as well.

Technically it's £9.6k at the minute as LOFT said they had £7k in donations to add into the pot that hasn't gone in just yet. Not far off £10k in roughly twelve hours isn't bad going and 4% of the overall total required.

Plus donations we don't know about.
When i donate soon I'll do it straight u to LOFTS bank account.
None of it gets swallowed up then and it's easy to do on online banking.

Gofundme is the worst way to donate, there is an 8% service charge.

USE YOUR ONLINE BANKING

Agreed - I just made my donation direct to the bank account as noted on the LOFT page. It's brilliant that folk can easily use the Gofundme site but there is a 8% deduction on that.

That said, isn't it grand to see it go over £5 K (plus the direct monies) in such a short space of time?

:clap

It really does make me a bit emotional to see this; it just shows how much people care about little Leyton Orient. Hats off to everyone who has donated thus far. :clap

Just contributed an initial sum via bank transfer. Expect to send more in the future.

If we raised the full £250k through gofundme they would take £20K in fees  Use other methods folks!!

That £20k is worth having. I sent mine direct to the LOFT bank account.

Well done to the organisers of this......I hope everyone who calls themselves a supporter donate something however small..... whatever the outcome and what ever the future the money raised will be useful, and as importantly shows the strength of feeling and love for our club, this in turn gets publicity which we need at this time ....COYOs

Good points about LOFT getting more money if it's paid direct.

But I guess the gofundme page serves a purpose in collecting funds from the wider public without an attachment to Orient. If they see a tweet or article that engenders sympathy, they can donate instantly - a couple of clicks & it's done before the sympathy evaporates. The online equivalent of just chucking some money in a bucket.

That's exactly why I set up a GoFundMe - to reach beyond the Orient fanbase alone to the 'donating community' and give people who steer clear of sites they don't know an easy way to donate without thinking about it. Sadly the 8% fee is more or less what other similar funding sites charge, but for that you get automatic tracking of donations, the ability to send update emails to contributors and the like. And there's always a chance people will add on a little extra once you tell them we don't get 100% of donations that way.

I feel we've got more from having a GoFundMe than the loss of 8% in fees.
