Robbie Weir Leaves Leyton Orient

PostPosted by ChingfordRed » Sun Jun 18, 2017 8:54 am

Hopefully this ain't a sign that things aren't going well behind the scenes with regards to the sale of the club, just Weir wanting out after a painful year for him personally, it never worked out, never got going, only played well once or twice, got badly injured at Exeter and that was it.

Hope he gets back to full fitness and finds a properly run football club for himself, but at the end of the day, he was awful when fit, 21 appearances, no goals and a red card in record time.

By the way, that's now eight players contracted for next season and pre-season training's supposed to start in two weeks.

Strange. Can`t be easy to find a new club with an injury like that.

Just goes to show how bad it is at Becchetti's Orient, he'd rather leave and risk not getting a new club than stay on, can't imagine he'd any real serious offers with an injury like the one he's just picked up.

Whilst i understand any person wanting to leave this club as it stands it does smart somewhat that Weir, our captain, who we paid throughout the year to not have one good game, who cost us points, who we kept paying and supported getting him back for a bad injury and then he leaves at the first chance.
Its modern football but would have respected the bloke if he came back and proved us wrong.

Wouldn't be surprised if there was a good settlement somewhere, the guy would have been on a good deal as well.
The guy was just awful, a handful of OK games but mainly bad, and this from a guy we signed as captain.

No doubt lots of people will be wishing him good luck, but if he was black, French and also injured for most of the season, he would be hounded out of the club.

Not a compairson really. Vincelot was great for us and left after a few seasons, one in which he played a key role is us finishing 3rd. Weirs stand out moment was getting sent off after 20 seconds.

Vincelot openly admitted he couldn't care less the season after Wembley, wanted to leave immediately after the final, turned in dire performance after dire performance and jumped as quick as he could after a long injury.

He scored a great goal to win the game against Villa at the beginning of that season. The rot hadn't set in yet (apart from Bc**tfacei owning the club).

What a pairing they will be next season. Lets see more direct football - more bouncing balls to be left.
Actually I think if the club is taken over they will be offered deals to leave.
