What's missing?

Obviously I don't go to games, curious to know what people think we need to change, tactics, personal, etc?

This. We also lack pace, organisation, energy and defensive effort. Can't fault the side going forward in terms of effort - we were still carving out chances at 3-0 down last night - but we don't close the opposition down, we don't track runners properly and we've got absolutely no-one (especially in midfield) prepared to put a f**king tackle in. There's no Dawson/Chambers figure prepared to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

What we don't have is a balanced central midfield combination - if you think of our better sides over the past decade or so, there's been a blend of passer and harrier in the middle of the pitch; Lloyd James's passing and Vincelot's up-and-down tenacity; Spring's elegance with Dawson's industry; Simpson and Easton breaking things up and dictating. But our current midfield is all holding and no real creating. Obviously we miss Lee, but we could do with a bit of box-to-box menace and creativity.

We are trying to play good football in a league where physicallity rules

We need to get some real big guys in, or some real quick pacey guys in, at the moment we are lacking in both

That's over analysing it. Both lawless and Lee have been too lightweight. As we are all over the pitch, to be fair.

While this is all very worrying, at least we are creating chances..................Fcuk knows how we didn`t score at least two or three goals last night, and Jobi was very unlucky with his effort.
Lady Luck is not being kind to us in terms of injuries either with BOTH First choice centre backs getting injured in the same game..................maybe we can get someone in on loan before Saturday.

Lawless is not "man enough" for the sort of job required in the National League. I actually see him as a "terrier" character acting as a foil to a brute. lee was never that brute and nor is anyone else presently at the club. We can get away with being lightweight in one or two other areas (Jobi is about 8 stone dripping wet), but not in the middle of the park.

There are plenty of minor issues, but I see this as being the main one.

There was one free kick last night that went into the box, but absolutely no-one attacked it or got anywhere near it.

It wad our best free kick of the season so far. :(

Our set pieces have been poor. McAnuff scoops most of them too high or too low, very few if any are whipped in with pace.

Not only were we unlucky with that Tuesday night, I felt they were really getting the rub of the green with loose and second balls. It just never broke for us really

McAnuff's set pieces were fine on Tuesday. Among the least of our worries really.

I must have dreamt all those corners that didn't get past the first man, then.

They didn't because we had clearly changed our delivery method and were going for near post flick on, it looked a lot more effective to me than the usual overhit rubbish and Mooney should have scored 2nd half with the goal at his mercy

This club is work in progress both on and off the pitch and I think this season will be pretty much the case throughout, I think the signings that were made out of necessity in haste mainly had one eye on consolidation this season rather than going straight back up, I don't have an issue with that because god knows we needed some stability. my expectation is we will end up mid table this season and there may have to be a rethink on some of the players we brought in on 2 year deals come May, people like Scales who is going to get nowhere near the first team. recruitment next summer will be be more considered and will address some of the issues that this season is bound to throw up.
