Looking very hopeful really didn't expect it this season either - memories of title wins back in the Fletcher/ Gooch era, which was a good while back.

Looks really good for Essex in this match, also Lancashire struggling against Somerset !
I thought Cook might be opening for Essex in this match, perhaps resting, Westley is playing.

Cookie not given permission to play by England, but Westley was. Same for the last County Championship matches.

Go Essex

Alistair Cook is available for the final two matches. If Essex beat Warwickshire and Lancashire lose to Somerset, Essex will be champions. COME ON ESSEX

Essex beat Warwickshire by Innings and 56 runs. All but champions - surely a technicality. Well done lads - what a season!

Lancashire could still beat Somerset, let's hope they don't.

Lancashire are following on against Somerset. They are still behind the first innings total of Somerset. With one day left it is highly unlikely they will overturn the Somerset total and set them a resonable target with one day left. Will be a miracle.

Even if they do it is still for Essex to lose. Essex will be champions tomorrow I am sure of that.

The title might not be their's this week but it's virtually impossible for them not to ultimately be champions.

It is highly unlikely that Lancashire can pull it off but technically they can. They have just lost another wicket and are 5 down and still 12 runs behind.
