FAO: ESI

PostPosted by Schrödinger's dog » Sun Feb 01, 2015 11:40 pm

I hope you might find this interesting, it's an old programme on the Midland / Blue Pullman. It doesn't last too long.

It's a bit dated, but that what I love about watching this, the music is similar to an old Carry On film or British Pathe newsreel.

I went on the train as a very small child and I got the model as a Christmas present.

Yeah watched it,like the semaphore signals.Wonder what year that was.Speedo was familiar and I've seen that sort on other trains.Loudaphone buzzer to the guard also.Don't like the toffs that much.Specially the one at the end looking at his watch, knob.

Unfoed! I loved the Station Manager's top hats and the flat caps on the drivers with their stove brewing the tea. I think it's quiet a good film, almost in the style of an Ealing comedy with some of the characters on that.

Happy days....

Track workers without Hi-Viz...was the same when I first started on the railway. Now you have to wear it when on or near the track.Remember watching a film from the 50's during my training about temporary block working then the tape got mangled up.The trainer was not very happy. Happy days indeed.:)

You are the majestic Class 52 'Western' diesel hydraulic, designed by Sir Misha Black, and built by BR's Western Region to haul express passenger trains west from Paddington. The Western Region favoured the German-style hydraulic form of transmission for their diesels locomotives, a decision which was later to prove costly as all hydraulic engines were deemed 'non-standard' and withdrawn during the late 60s and 70s.
